Background & Origins
Subsurface Risk Analytics grew out of sustained technical analysis of legacy oil and gas infrastructure—particularly abandoned and orphaned wells.
That work examined:
- Why wells fail decades after closure
- How bonding and financial assurance fall short over time
- Why risk-based triage systems cannot capture long-term failure
- How discovery is often driven by proximity, not monitoring
These analyses were published publicly and informed by field experience, subsurface data interpretation, and environmental analytics.
The company exists to translate those insights into structured, decision-relevant risk intelligence.
From Analysis to Platform
Much of the underlying information already exists:
- State and federal well records
- Plugging reports
- Production histories
- Location data
What is missing is integration, context, and transparent treatment of uncertainty.
Subsurface Risk Analytics is being built to address that gap.
Positioning
This work is:
- Independent
- Analytical
- Non-advocacy driven
It is intended to support better decisions—not to assign blame or advance policy positions.
Status
